What I’ve done

I have over 23 years experience in literature/literacy/reader development and arts administration and management. I have worked for Creative Arts East as the Literature Development Officer and Norfolk County Council, where I ran The Opening Doors project which engaged looked after children and Foster Carers in reading.

I have also worked on projects with and for a range of other clients including The National Trust, the BBC, Norfolk Dance, Addenbrokes Hospital, Asda, Tescos, Norwich Writers Centre (including City of Refuge), Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Norwich Cathedral, Norfolk Youth and Community Services, Norfolk Museum Service, Signal, Castlemaine Art Gallery and Mount Alexandershire Council.

I regularly run creative writing (using a holistic and mixed media approach) workshops in both primary and high schools, and have taught and lectured at many other institutions including Universities, English Language Library workshopSchools, Nurseries, Kindergartens, Residential Homes and Libraries. I’ve been a resident poet in Tescos (reflecting my love of the trolley) and made ‘Pluck Me’ a documentary for Anglia TV.
I’ve enjoyed working with many different groups including those with eating disorders, prisoners, refugees, those with mental health issues and those recovering from addictions. I’m a big believer in the power of the word, whether written, heard or spoken.
